This is a collection of six 10-minute lessons for children. It is recommended that the first lesson be played every day for a week before moving on to the second lesson, and so on. Relaxation techniques used include tensing and releasing muscles, counting breathing, visualisation, stretches, calming breathing and more, all accompanied by relaxing music.
The benefits of relaxation help children in a number of ways:
• Giving them an awareness of how they feel physically when they are tense or relaxed
• Giving them more self-awareness of their thoughts and feelings when they are anxious, stressed and angry
• Learning practical ways to manage stress and identify triggers of stress in a range of settings
• Reducing symptoms of stress such as anger, poor concentration, being easily upset, tendency to worry and sleep disturbance.
