This DVD-based training programme features constructive activities for children at lunch break. The course:
• Provides induction and ongoing CPD for Midday Assistants/Lunchtime Supervisors and any staff involved in managing pupils at break time
• Raises the self-esteem of this important group of support staff
• Motivates and empowers lunchtime supervisory teams by promoting positive behaviour strategies
• Presents whole school approaches to lunchtime management
• Contains a variety of materials to appeal to all learning styles, stimulating refelection and discussion leading to personal development and organisational change
• Considers the importance of the role and the wide range of delegated responsibilities
• Considers the value of a well managed lunch break to a child's development well being and education
• Considers the importance of consistency between the playground and the classroom
• Engenders team work, making management of social times a whole school issue
• Looks at first aid and safety issues.
Having a good, calm and well managed lunch time increases the quality of learning in the afternoon and promotes positive behaviour management - catching children being good. The DVD is menu driven, and is divided into two modules:
• A positive approach
• Whole school issues.
It contains a variety of materials intended to stimulate reflection and discussion including dramatised scenarios and situations to which participants are asked to respond.
