An award-winning resource which allows the mentor to profile and analyse the needs of the person they are working with. The resource consists of colour-coded picture cards which the young person selects in relation to their worry or problem, and then 'posts' into the slotted opening of the 'Mentoring Box'. The mentor then views the card to help open up discussion without verbal or written initiation.
For many young people, merely talking about their problems within a mentoring session can feel daunting. The unique design of the Mentoring Activities Box gives young people the chance to think about and reveal their problems before talking, enabling a mentoring relationship to develop in a non-threatening way. This is an ideal resource to use in schools or within other therapeutic settings.
The resource:
• Allows pupils to express their problems and concerns with the option to discuss them at a later date
• Saves time and money by providing a complete resource
• Can be used with pupils with poor literacy skills as it is a mainly kinaesthetic tool
• Covers 11 topics: profiling; review; behaviour; self-confidence; bullying; friendship; decision-making; attendance; body image; family change; and bereavement.
An accompanying booklet contains full instructions for each card, with photocopiable answer slips.
44 full colour A4 cards, 52-page instruction booklet
