With over 5,000 video and audio expressions, this unique interactive reference tool covers the entire spectrum of human emotions. Developed by a team of scientists at Cambridge University, led by Professor Simon Baron-Cohen, Mind Reading has been designed with awareness of the special needs of children and adults who have difficulties recognising emotional expressions, especially those on the Autism spectrum. Those with no underlying special needs can also benefit from the software and it is equally ideal for anyone who has an interest in emotions.
Mind Reading: Interactive Guide is an enhanced version of the original software that contains not only the Emotions Library, but also the Learning Centre, Games Zone and Rewards sections.
The Emotions Library is a visual dictionary of emotions, which consists of 24 Emotion Groups with 412 individual emotions, including: • Happiness • Sadness • Anger • Cynicism • Inspiration • Jealousy • Wishful thinking. Suitable for all ages and levels of ability, it is designed to improve the skills required to recognise emotions.
The Learning Centre improves emotional recognition skills, with a variety of customisable and versatile lessons and quizzes.
The Games Zone allows for even more fun with emotions, encouraging informal learning in a less structured setting. Games include an emotion-reaction game with world-famous actor Daniel Radcliffe, a real-world emotions game and a fast moving card game of emotions and memory.
As learners successfully complete the lessons and games on their individual profile, they collect a rich set of motivational rewards, which are both fun and educational. Rewards include a collection of world flags, an interactive microscope, and a music maker. The rewards are fully interactive, with useful information, videos and images.
