Social and Emotional Learning in Circle Time
Description
Circle Time is an effective method of socially mediated learning – children learn well from each other, especially when the social and emotional context of learning feels safe and accepting. Research shows that Circle Time is an effective method for enhancing feelings of self-worth, building rewarding relationships with others and developing communication skills.
This comprehensive programme contains ten lessons for every term of primary years, making 30 lessons per academic year. For Key Stage 1 this will constitute 60 lessons (30 in Year 1 and 30 in Year 2); for Key Stage 2 it will constitute 120 lessons (30 in Years 3, 4, 5 and 6), making 180 lessons in total.
The resource has a distinctively accessible, ‘ready-to-go’ format, which has been welcomed by many teachers during the two years of its development and evaluation. All materials make a connection to the seven themes identified in the SEAL materials and therefore offer a directly compatible resource which can either stand alone or be used together with SEAL to enhance combined outcomes.
