Social and emotional competence refers to the capacity to recognise and manage emotions, solve problems and establish and maintain relationships. Acquiring this ability helps protect children from a host of difficulties including behaviour and emotional problems. In this game players move round the board and answer questions in order to collect counters. The kinds of behaviour they learn about are:
• Sharing feelings
• Getting along with others
• Co-operating
• Caring
• Communicating.
The game can easily be used in conjunction with existing programmes and is suitable for individual and small group sessions.
