Touching Road DVD

Written and acted by young men serving custodial sentences at HMP Hollesley Bay, Touching Road shows the consequences of carrying knives and gang life. The film focuses on the story of ‘CJ’ who is released from prison – which inmates call ‘touching road’ – only to find his girlfriend is pregnant. Shortly after his release, he catches up with someone who owes him money and ends up stabbing them in a fracas with his friends, landing himself back in prison. The scene is then played out again, this time with him taking a more reasonable attitude to the same situation and the film ends with CJ enjoying himself with his friends, as a way of showing that the more positive decision had a much better outcome.

An accompanying guidebook contains 3 lesson plans, with 11 questions, 6 tasks and 9 activities. Touching Road is essential for educating about the importance of positive decision making and the dangers of knife crime and gangs.
